Electricity Markets

Forward electric continues its upward trajectory across all ISOs as winter costs climb higher.

Volatility returned to the daily markets as temperatures spiked above normal.

Natural Gas Markets

Natural gas costs rose substantially week over week throughout the remainder of 2021 and the first quarter of 2022.

Natural Gas Inventory

As of Friday, September 10, 2021 working gas in storage was 3,006 Bcf. According to EIA estimates this represents a net increase of 83 Bcf from the previous week.

The Baker Hughes exploration gas count is down one from the previous week for a total of 100 rigs. This is 27 more rigs than the 73 in operation at this time one year ago.

 

Weather Update

Warmer than normal temperatures are expected across much of the Western US with seasonally normal temperatures expected along East Coast.
